Foundation Stone Ceremony
The foundation stone for the building of the Institute was laid by Padma Vibhushan Dr. C. Rangarajan, Economics Advisor to the Prime Minister of India, on February 20, 2007 at the campus of the University of Hyderabad (UH). The mission of the institute is to disseminate advances made in mathematical sciences by conducting workshops, international and national conferences, and short courses on newly emerging areas of science and technology, guiding Ph.D. students and providing consultancy services to research workers in other disciplines and to government and industrial organizations. The institute will endeavor to work in cutting edge areas of mathematics, statistics, and computer science and provide a forum for national and international experts in different areas to meet and discuss problems of mutual interest. Also of note, the Institute has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with UH and Punjab Technical University for collaboration in educational and research activities. On the occasion of the ceremony, messages of goodwill and congratulations were received from the Presidents of India and the US, the Prime Minister of India, and the President of the International Indian Statistical Association.
